For Comfort Inside Put WEATHERMATE Outside

When you build, be sure to include protection against air infiltration and water penetration. Dow has you covered with WEATHERMATE™ Weather Barrier Solutions. STYROFOAM™ extruded polystyrene and polyisocyanurate insulations, housewraps, flashings, sill pan and tape from Dow work together on the outside to enhance the comfort on the inside.

Build with WEATHERMATE Weather Barrier Solutions for better coverage where it really matters.

Wrap it Right

The first step in making a home weather-tight is to install either an insulated or non-insulated sheathing over the studs. Enhance the performance of the wall and provide optimal protection with WEATHERMATE or WEATHERMATE Plus housewrap. Tough and tear-resistant, WEATHERMATE housewraps provide a continuous, protective membrane to reduce air infiltration and water penetration. Tape joints between insulation boards, housewrap seams and other penetrations with WEATHERMATE™ Construction Tape to further reduce air leakage.

Done in a Flash

Windows and doors are especially vulnerable to bulk water intrusion. Flashing products are designed to help direct water to the building exterior.

Composed of durable polymer that won’t rust or rot, WEATHERMATE Sill Pan forms a protective barrier against water that can work its way under windows. The molded polymer conforms to the rough opening, providing seamless protection at sill corners and helping create a positive drainage plane. And the two-piece design is adjustable to fit most windowsill widths. After installing the window and door, flashing the jambs and headers with WEATHERMATE Flashing provides a weather-tight seal.

Durable, tough and tear resistant, WEATHERMATE Flashing products for windows and doors feature a cross-laminated high-density polyethylene (HDPE) facer and butyl rubber (“super tack”) adhesive that is self-sealing around nails and staples and sticks to most common building materials. WEATHERMATE Straight Flashing provides a weather-tight seal at jambs and straight heads. WEATHERMATE™ Flexible Flashing easily conforms to curved surfaces and custom shapes.

Complete the job by air sealing the gaps between the window and door and its rough opening with GREAT STUFF PRO™ Window & Door insulating foam sealant on the interior.
