Transmission Line Towers

STYROFOAM™ Brand Extruded Polystyrene Insulation products have proven to be economical, long-term solutions for geotechnical applications.

Transmission tower footings can sink, rise and shift due to frost heave, affecting the tower’s diagonal bracing. While frost-susceptible soil is usually removed when a tower is built, sometimes there is little or no granular material to replace that soil. STYROFOAM™ Brand HIGHLOAD Insulation (40, 60 or 100) can be used to protect transmission towers from frost heave.
