If exterior foundation walls are uninsulated or underinsulated, it’s not too late to enhance energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint by adding rigid foam insulation to interior foundation walls.
Insulating foundation walls helps moderate the effects of soil, water, temperature and air on the foundation can help protect the performance and integrity of the total structure, as well as help create a more comfortable environment for occupants. Moisture-resistant STYROFOAM™ Brand Extruded Polystyrene Insulation can often be installed directly against the interior masonry wall, without need of a vapor barrier. Insulation will not prevent bulk water entry, so any necessary wall repairs should be completed before installation.
