Air Sealing

Newer model energy codes – ASHRAE 90.1-2010 and IECC 2012 – require mandatory air barriers. These are usually specified in individual layers with materials differing on walls and roofs – to maintain continuity. We are required to transition vertical wall planes to horizontal roof planes frequently with unlike materials. To further complicate our mission, we have to puncture these air barrier layers to accommodate plumbing, electrical and other necessary building components. Let Dow help! Dow offers cost-effective and field-tested methods to meet these requirements along with CAD Details, Guide Specifications and “how to videos”. Code compliance has never been so easy.

Air Sealing Foams

Ideal at hard-to-reach roof/wall junctions, these polyurethane spray foams are designed to fill penetrations, cracks and expansion joints to form a permanent and airtight barrier.
GREAT STUFF PRO™ Insulating Foam Sealant** is ideal for sealing small gaps (less than 3” [<76.21mm]) around windows, doors, skylights and other building penetrations while
FROTH-PAK™ Foam Insulation kit** works on larger gaps such as at the wall/roof junctions. It has NFPA 286 approval and can be left exposed. Contact Dow for additional information.
