New Orleans - November 09, 2010
NEW ORLEANS – November 9, 2010 – SAFETOUCH™ Fiberglass-Free Insulation, a product from The Dow Chemical Company, is supporting Rebuilding Together's commitment to renovating 1,000 homes in the Gulf Coast by 2011 by providing more than 30,000 square-feet of fiberglass-free, R-13 insulation. Volunteers with Rebuilding Together New Orleans will use the donation to insulate walls in up to nine homes this fall.
The homes insulated with SAFETOUCH™ insulation are part of a push to revive New Orleans' Gentilly neighborhood, which sits on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain and thus experienced some of the worst flooding after the levees gave way. Rebuilding Together's goal is restore New Orleans and touch as many homeowners and as much of the community as possible. To date, the organization has completed almost 800 projects throughout several neighborhoods in the city.
Dow will support the continued effort by donating approximately $27,000 of SAFETOUCH™ insulation, making the renovated homes energy efficient-and healthier. SAFETOUCH™ insulation does not support mold growth nor does it contain added formaldehyde, two frequent causes of poor indoor air quality, according the Environmental Protection Agency's "The Inside Story: A Guide to Indoor Air Quality".
"New Orleans and the Gulf are being rebuilt because companies and communities continue to step up and give back," said Chad Holzer, Operational Marketing Manager. "Dow wanted to be a part of that movement."
