Midland, MI - August 14, 2006
For the second consecutive year, Dow Building & Construction was awarded the “Partners of Choice Award” by David Weekley Homes, the third largest privately held homebuilder in the U.S. Scott Young, North American Residential Market Manager for Dow Building & Construction, accepted the award at a ceremony held at the David Weekley Headquarters in Houston.
David Weekley Homes selects the Partners of Choice Award recipients based on quarterly reviews conducted with 1,000 of its employees across all functions and levels, who rate the quality and service of approximately 150 suppliers. Since earning its first “A, A” rating and being named one of the Partners of Choice Award Winners in 2005, Dow Building & Construction maintained an “A” rating in both Quality and Service for an additional four consecutive quarters. Dow is one of five companies to earn this recognition two consecutive years, which is a particularly significant accomplishment due to the fact the survey results showed an overall improvement across all suppliers of approximately 20 percent.
“Dow Building & Construction maintains a strong focus, and strategic commitment, to our long standing channel partnerships while working rigorously to ensure that all of our partners are aligned and focused on providing home builders with superior service to match the quality of our products,” said Scott Young. “This honor from David Weekley Homes recognizes Dow’s commitment to providing quality products and application know-how, along with proven application-based solutions grounded in sound building science. This award further recognizes the hard work, commitment and dedication of our channel partners and award winning account specialists, without which none of this would be possible. The Partners of Choice initiative undertaken at David Weekley Homes is an innovative approach designed to ensure seamless channel cooperation and delivery, by clearly addressing the areas of highest priority and value necessary to ensure quality construction, without costly delays and inefficiencies”.
“The National Trading Partner Survey is an excellent tool for measuring, quantifying and managing world-class excellence amongst our partners. Considering the comprehensive nature of the survey and the dynamic environment in which we operate, it’s very difficult for a trading partner to achieve an ‘A, A’ rating for one quarter, much less an entire year,” said Bill Justus, Vice President, Supply Chain Services for David Weekley Homes. “Given this, Dow’s accomplishment of earning an ‘A, A’ rating two consecutive years is truly remarkable and confirms that Dow is among the best in their class when it comes to delivering the building science know-how and service necessary for builders to be successful.”
David Weekley Homes’ employees evaluated suppliers on the two attributes, quality and service, on a scale from one to 10, 10 being the highest. Each company’s numeric scores are averaged and then an alpha ranking is assigned relative to its ranking with all other Weekley national trading partners. Alpha ratings range from A to F in 20% increments. Because Dow Building & Construction scored in the top 20 percent for both quality and service over the entire year, it earned an “A” ranking in both categories. The Partners of Choice Awards are presented only to suppliers who maintained either an “A” rating in Quality or Service, or an “A, A” rating for both Quality and Service in the previous four quarters.
