Македонија - Installation in ground moisture

Underground insulation

The insulation does not provide any water tightness of the construction, this could be obtained by use of dense water-tight concrete or application of a (bituminous) waterproofing membrane.

The installation is very simple and easy:

The ROOFMATE SL-A insulation boards are simply bonded to the external face with cold and solvent-free cold bitumen adhesive. On irregular wall surfaces the adhesive should be spot-applied (approx. six spots per board), on flat surfaces the boards can be fully bonded.

The boards are installed with tight joints and in a brick pattern in either a horizontal or vertical position on the cellar wall. The thermal bridges at the joints are avoided by the all-round shiplap edge profile. The adhesion acts only as temporary fixing: the insulation boards are pressed against the cellar wall by the pressure of the soil after the ground has been backfilled. The ground is filled back and compacted in layers shortly after the installation of the insulation. ROOFMATE SL-A boards must "stand" on a firm base area at the foot (for example foundation step), having a support base to avoid sliding during compacting the backfill later.

ROOFMATE SL-A boards are not biodegradable in the environment and do not present an environmental hazard in the water/soil compartment.
