STYROFOAM™ Brand WALLMATE™ Insulation

A Type X extruded polystyrene foam insulation for easy home installation.

Used In

  • For residential applications
  • Used to insulate interior basement walls and other areas of the home

Product Advantages

  • Quick and easy to install
  • Durable
  • When butted together, slotted "rabbet" edges on long edges form a slot between the insulation boards to accommodate a wood nailing strip (used to attach the boards to the basement wall or ceiling rafters)
  • Wood strip also provides a nail base for drywall
  • Slotted edge (U.S.) and slotted and butt edge (Canada) treatments available

Typical Physical Properties

These properties are typical but do not constitute specifications.

STYROFOAM™ WALLMATE™ - U.S.

Nominal Board Thickness(1), in R-Value(2) Board Size, ft Edge Treatment Min Compressive Strength(3), psi
1.5 7.5 2 x 8 Slotted 15
2.0 10.0 2 x 8 Slotted 15

(1) Not all product sizes are available in all regions.

(2) R means resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power. R-values are expressed in ft2• h•°F/Btu. R-value determined by ASTM C518.

(3) Vertical compressive strength is measured at 10% deformation or at yield, whichever occurs first.

STYROFOAM™ WALLMATE™ - Canada

Board Thickness(1), in (mm) R-Value(2) (RSI) Board Size, ft (mm) Edge Treatment Min Compressive Strength(3), psi (kPa)
1.5 (38) 7.5 (1.32) 2 x 8 (600 x 2400) Slotted 16 (110)
2.0 (50) 10.0 (1.76) 2 x 8 (600 x 2400) Slotted 16 (110)
2.4 (60) 12 (2.11) 2 x 8 (600 x 2400) Butt Edge 16 (110)

(1) Not all product sizes are available in all regions.

(2) R means resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value or RSI (R-Value Système Internationale), the greater the insulating power. R-values are expressed in ft2• h•°F/Btu. RSI values are expressed in m2°C/W. R-value determined by ASTM C518.

(3) Vertical compressive strength is measured at 10% deformation or at yield, whichever occurs first.
