Green Around the Globe
At the root of any great book is a great premise. Architects of world-renowned structures like the Vancouver Public Library are discovering the same is true for innovative green roof designs.
The protected membrane roof (PMR) is another great premise.
Developed by Dow in 1970, the PMR idea literally turned roofing theory upside down by placing the membrane below STYROFOAM™ Brand Extruded Polystyrene Insulation. This unique inverted system provides the ideal foundation for a green roof system, one that's proven to last at least 35 years.

The Passive House, one of the world's leading standards in energy efficiency, calls for housing with a dramatic reduction in energy consumption and zero carbon emissions. A home in Padua, Italy, was remodeled to achieve these stringent standards using Dow products. It now serves as headquarters of the Italian Solar InfoCenter.
This Passive House reference project incorporates a number of Dow products to reduce energy consumption by 92%.

Fast-growing Trinity Christian School applied lessons learned from its existing building when it embarked on a new expansion and installed the THERMAX™ Wall System, a systematic approach to achieving efficiency at every level: simplified design, streamlined construction and optimized energy consumption for a reduced carbon footprint.
Dow's three-in-one system provides a highly energy-efficient design enabling a thinner wall profile and maximized usable space, which may contribute to significant U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED credits.
