Insulation of pitched roofs with STYROFOAM™ TG
The planned efficiency of thermal insulation in pitched roofs can be achieved when thermal bridges are prevented. There are several alternatives to create a properly functioning build-up with minimized thermal bridges, by placing the insulation:
- above the rafters or a timber/concrete deck,
- below the rafters,
- above and between the rafters,
- between and below the rafters.
When the insulation is installed on the top of the rafters, a rigid insulation material with high strength is demanded, being capable to resist to the loads: weight of roof covering, snow, wind-load, etc.
Thus additional support elements, interrupting the continuous insulation layer, can be eliminated. STYROFOAM TG boards with all-round tongue and groove edge offer continuous thermal insulating layer free of thermal bridges on the top of the rafters. If the insulation boards are laid on a timber or concrete deck, STYROFOAM also offers a proper technical solution.
The use of STYROFOAM boards offer various solutions for different pitched roof build-ups, both for new construction or renovation, also combined with other insulation materials placed between the rafters.
