Dow EIFS Seminar in Beijing to Promote Energy-saving Buildings in China
Beijing, September 28th, 2009 - In the golden autumn of the year, the "Seminar on Energy Efficiency
 |
in Buildings" was jointly held by The Dow Chemical Company and "City Residence" - a magazine sponsored by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) - at the site of China Architecture Design & Research Group. Experts, leaders and architects from Asia-Pacific Institute of Construction Sci-tech Information, China Architecture Design & Research Group, Institute of Cadre Management of MOHURD as well as some corporate representatives were present at the seminar, having insightful discussions about hot topics related to market strategy, market challenges and investment opportunities of energy conservation in buildings. Mr. Xiong Yanren, President of Asia-Pacific Institute of Construction Sci-tech Information addressed the meeting, and Mr. Guo Hui, Client Manager of Dow Building Applications displayed to all attendents Dow's energy-saving products and technonogies in buildings and shared with them Dow's abundant experience and practices in this area.
Energy efficiency and environmental protection is a major common concern across the whole world, and buildings are always a huge energy consumer. According to statistics, the energy consumption of buildings accounts for more than 20% of the national total; hence, there is a growing need for energy efficiency in buildings. Mr. Tu, Chairman of Building Energy Efficiency Committee of China Construction Industry Assocation, gave an analysis of the development situations and existing problems in the field of engergy efficiency buildings in China. He also put a premium on Dow external insulation finishing system for their contribution to green buildings in China. Mr. Du, President of Bejing International Investment & Development Co., Ltd., urged all enterprises in this industry chain to engage in the energy conservation and emission reduction program. Furthermore, he stressed at the meeting that advanced technoglogy does not mean high cost, and that the use of new energy-saving materials produced by enterprises like Dow are an irresistible trend in the future. Without the investment of product providers, the awareness of developers or the guidance of designers, energy saving and emission reduction cannot be easily achieved.
Not only does Dow - the leader in the market of energy-efficient building materials - provide an advanced energy-saving solution for the entire world, but plays a leading role in the promotion of energy efficient buildings in China. Dow XPS external insulation finishing system integrating the company's products (e.g. Stymfoam™ insulation board, cellulose ether, redispersed latex powder and interface agent) is designed to provide a complete and trustworthy engergy-saving solution on the exterior wall of buildigns. Stymfoam™ insulation, Dow flagship product that has been successfully applied in the building industry for more than 60 years, is now used in over 21 million buildings around the world including US, Europe, Japan and the Asian-Pacific Region, saving approximately US$10 billion a year. Its blue starlight also shines in the newly-built Tianjin-Jixian Transport Passenger Station and the ongoing Tianjin Sinyaoo Residential Quarters. Besides, the T-MASS wall energy-saving system that adopts the Stymfoam™ insulation board is broadly used in the US market. In addition, Dow is now strenghtening its R&D efforts to introduce new energy-saving materials into China.
"During the development and construction of engery-saving buildings, the application of new technologies and new products can not only help save energy and protect environment, but also improve the qualtiy of the buildings and create comfortable working and living environment. As a pioneer in this green area, Dow remains, as always, committed to promoting energy-saving buildings in China. The seminar aims to share techologies and experience with all participants, listen to the clients, understand their demands and provide them with advanced green products and solutions that meet the needs of various building applications", said Guo Hui.
