With the theme of ‘Implementing the Concept of Scientific Development and Accelerating the Process of Building Energy Efficiency’, the 5th International Green Show was held on Mar. 27 –29, ’09 in Beijing organized by the Ministry of Construction (MOC) in China.
This forum is the highest level of the trade show and forums in the industry, attracting governors, inviting some global 500 enterprises, research companies, architects’ design institutes, developers and local building material producers. The key objective for participation was to enhance communication, sharing and cooperation on energy efficiency standards, principles and technology and pushing the healthy development of Chinese intelligent, green and energy-efficient building.
Jiang Wei Xin, Minister of Construction delivered the opening speech. 14 forums focused on green strategy, design and practice, green buildings’ labeling, existing buildings’ renovation to meet energy efficiency regulations and new materials and technologies of wall insulation solutions were held during the show.
To further enhance Dow brand awareness and promote Dow Building Solutions’ (DBS) leading energy efficiency products and solutions in the industry, DBS attended the 5th Green Show by displaying its high performance and quality EIFS solution incorporating several Dow products such as STYROFOAM insulation, DLP, Latex Primer and Cellulosics. Dr. Terry Hu, Lead Scientist delivered a technical paper and speech on Dow EIFS wall insulation system.
Chen Yimin, Department Chief of MOC Energy Efficiency and Science &Technology met with Carlo Guarino, General Manager of Asia Pacific, DBS, and Hari Reddy, R&D Director, DBS, during the forum. He expressed that the China government has attached critical importance to energy conservation & emission reduction and believes Dow has a brighter future with green buildings’ booming development in China partnering with his department. Carlo emphasized ‘Dow’s objective to be a major contributor in the achievement of the energy efficiency goals in China and would leveraging its brand influence, its technology across the company and its outstanding solutions partnering with the MOC.’ After that, Chen Yimin visited Dow booth and was particularly interested in DBS EIFS (exterior insulation finishing system) mock up, he talked about the wall insulation market status and its development with the DBS staff.
A media session was also held with 5 leading industry reporters with Carlo, Hari and Terry to discuss the trends of the construction industry, Dow solution offerings to meet China’s energy efficiency standards, and sustainability agenda and Dow’s commitment to China’s development and economic growth.
